ARTICLE: Ryan Schwertfeger serves all of Roseland's communication needs
Oakland Council candidate Ryan Schwertfeger was recently featured in an article by "The Progress" about his full-time job as the Public Information Officer in the Borough of Roseland, NJ.

When it comes to municipal government, Public Information Officer and Office Supervisor Ryan Schwertfeger is a jack of all trades.
He has worked for the borough for nearly seven years now, and is responsible for updating the town's website, social media and television channel, as well as writing press release flyers and reaching out to residents via email.
On top of that, when borough events need pictures taken and video recorded, Schwertfeger is always on hand.
Schwertfeger's involvement in municipal government does not end at the town's borders, either. He is the chair of the Communications Commission and a member of the America250 committee for his hometown of Oakland.
In addition, prior to actually working in the government, Schwertfeger championed the construction of a borough dog park for more than 10 years, which was finally opened in 2021.
With his stacked portfolio, Schwertfeger said he finds motivation in being able to actually help people with the skills he has picked up throughout his career so far.
"To be able to actually solve people's problems, and use the knowledge and experience you have to help other people, that's extremely rewarding."
He also said that his faith is important to him, and that he is a firm believer that "everyone's got different skills and talents that God gives us.
"Being in public service, maybe you get paid a little less than you do in the private sector...(but it's) nice to go to work and feel like you could do something positive for somebody today."
